Communications Coordinator – Full-Time, Permanent

Position Overview
This position plays a key role in the success of EMOW by effectively sharing our story and engaging community support. This position is under the supervision of the Fund Development & Community Engagement Manager.

As EMOW’s Communications Coordinator, your efforts are fundamental in effectively telling our story to diverse audiences through various channels. You will contribute to the success of the Fund Development & Community Engagement team by taking initiative, delivering effective messaging, monitoring trends, building strong professional relationships, and constantly striving to improve results. You will draw on your curiosity and enthusiasm to implement and support innovative engagement opportunities
This position demands a commitment to collaboration and clear communication to ensure accurate messaging and aligned priorities within the department and throughout the organization. As an agency spokesperson and representative, you will be prepared to approach each interaction with professionalism, clarity and consistency in order to further EMOW’s mission.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute agency communications including newsletters, blog posts, email blasts, media releases, advertising copy, and other internal and external messaging.
- Develop and implement a dynamic social media strategy that effectively shares EMOW’s story to maximize engagement and conversions.
- Maintain our website which includes ensuring accurate and up-to-date information and generating new content that follows SEO guidelines.
- Identify and coordinate advertising opportunities with Google, Meta, print publications, etc.
- Manage email marketing campaigns including building funnels and developing targeted email sequences based on subscriber interests and preferences.
- Represent EMOW as a spokesperson in traditional media including on-camera and radio interviews.
- Cultivate strong media relationships and partnerships, creating opportunities for media engagement that support EMOW brand awareness.
- Coordinate special events that engage community stakeholders and supporters, and build awareness of EMOW’s programs, services and current needs.
- Organize outreach activities for the agency, including presentations to community groups, professional associations and other stakeholders.
- Assist all departments internally with graphic design, photography, videography, presentation development and content creation support as needed.
- Ensure brand consistency and information accuracy in all internal and external communications.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in marketing, public relations, fund development or related discipline preferred.
- 1-3 years direct experience in media relations, marketing or communications, preferably with a charitable organization.
- Equivalencies may be considered.
- Strong content creation experience, demonstrating the ability to craft effective messaging for specific audiences and platforms. This includes designing corresponding graphics or images to accompany each message.
- Media relations experience in writing press releases and providing interviews.
- Experience working with a variety of software applications including Microsoft Office, WordPress, Canva, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Adobe and Woo.
- Familiarity with fundraising software, specifically DonorPerfect, is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- A high degree of accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills that support working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support networking opportunities and special events.
- A clean vulnerable sector check.
- Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.

Salary & Benefits
- $45,000 to $53,000 per year, based on experience.
- Comprehensive benefits package including dental and vision coverage.
- Three weeks of vacation to start.
