We have some juicy news Edmontonians can sink their teeth into! From August 1 to August 31, Edmonton Meals on Wheels is hosting the first annual YEG Hot Dog Fest. We are hosting this month-long friendly food competition between local businesses to raise awareness, support and funds for Edmontonians in need.
For the past year, we have put our traditional event-based fundraisers on hold to focus on the increased demand for our services since the beginning of COVID19. As we remain diligent on providing nutrition to our 1,800 clients city-wide, we aim to build new relationships and strengthen existing partnerships throughout the YEG community. With this event, Edmonton Meals on Wheels gets to promote dozens of local businesses via everyone’s favourite summertime snack, the hot dog! It’s a win for entrepreneurs, food fans, and the charity!
We are calling for local restaurants, cafes, bakeries, food trucks, or any food establishments up for the challenge to design a signature hot dog for people to taste test and virtually rate, all to crown YEG’s Top Dog! Registration opens May 15.
Best part? You don’t have to be a hot dog vendor! Any food establishment can participate Make sure to tell your favourite eatery about this awesome festival
How does it work? Once we receive our 2021 contestants, attendees can find a fabulous foot-long from our list of local contestants at yeghotdogfest.org. Then they can head over to that shop during business hours to try it out. After the last bite, they go back online and rate that hot dog! It is an easy, fun, and flavourful way to support a charity and support local!
There will be three categories’ businesses can compete for: Top Dog, Wackiest Dog and Relished Dog!
