The Elks and Driving Force Team Up for Community

On December 3, 2025, Edmonton Meals on Wheels received a visit from the Driving Force along with several players from the Edmonton Elks.

As the day’s Winter Feastival sponsor, the Driving Force helps offset the costs of ingredients, enabling us to provide our clients with a menu of comforting holiday meals throughout December.

In addition to their investment, the Driving Force decided to volunteer with the company of their partner, the Edmonton Elks.

The day’s volunteer lineup included Defensive Backs Coach and former Elks player Aaron Grymes as well as players Steven Dunbar, Luke Burton-Krahn, and Mark Korte.

Tackling the (Production) Line

It may not have been game day, but these athletes approached volunteers with just as much dedication.

To help kick off the day, these volunteers supported our production line and worked alongside our staff and volunteers. Our daily meal production line was no match for our corporate volunteers who assembled and packaged meal bags with speed and ease. Along with putting together the day’s meals, the Elks put their decorating skills to use and iced holiday cookies for our clients.

Our production facility was alive with laughter and community spirit as the Elks players worked alongside our staff and volunteers.

Delivering Meals and Community Spirit

After loading their bins, the Elks took their A-game to the roads where they delivered meals and cheer to the hundreds of clients who eagerly anticipate their daily meal and visit.

For Steven Dunbar, the act of volunteering feels like the right way to celebrate the holidays. “It really feels like the holidays, delivering to clients in the snowy weather,” he shared.

Though unexpected, these visits sparked joy in our clients who appreciated the efforts to make a small, yet meaningful difference in their day.

Special Thanks

As a pillar of the community, the Edmonton Elks play a vital role in connecting Edmontonians to their city. Community unites us all, and we’re grateful to have partners like the Driving Force who rally behind Edmonton’s health and well-being.
