WHAT DOES COMMUNITY MEAN TO YOU?
As these last few years have shown us, the connections we share are vital to our wellbeing and quality of life.
For some Edmontonians, maintaining these relationships can be difficult. Declining health, reduced mobility and other hardships often create barriers associated with the loss of independence.
Thanks to donations from people like you, Edmonton Meals on Wheels connects community with healthy, delicious meals delivered by caring volunteers. Meal delivery is our social connector – connecting people who need help with volunteers who want to help. Your donation will ensure seniors and other homebound Edmontonians can maintain their quality of life social connections.
By donating to Edmonton Meals on Wheels, you will join countless other donors helping Edmontonians like Robert. At 93, Robert has just about seen it all. After moving to Edmonton in the 1940s, Robert quickly made a rich life here. Over the decades, Robert left his mark on the city, raising a family and working in aviation, construction, and more. His father was even a Meals on Wheels client in the 1970s!
“You’ll Be Surprised What You Achieve And Witness When You Get To My Age. I’ve Seen It All!” – Robert
Today, Robert lives alone, and takes pride in his independence. However, social isolation brought on by declining health and the pandemic nearly resulted in disaster late last year. Robert suffered a fall in his home and was unable to access assistance for four days. After a lengthy hospital stay, Robert is at home, safe and recovered, and joined Edmonton Meals on Wheels for the peace of mind. With your support, we can provide clients like Robert throughout the community with crucial social connections and food security when they need it most.
Your donation will be put to work immediately in support of vulnerable Edmontonians. Alongside informal daily wellness checks, we provide home cooked, nutritious meals customized to a variety of texture modifications and diet requirements. We even offer weekly grocery delivery, and provide meals for clients transitioning home after a hospital stay!
